Welcome! Most folks think our farm name comes from chasing those ribbons but I will share a secret, it actually comes from ribbons used to mark land a local realtor had for sale where you turned to head to our home. The first time our family came for a visit to our new place, they were searching for the correct road. Our oldest granddaughter noticed the ribbons as they found the road sign. "Just turn on Ribbon Road," and the Ribbon Road Farms was born from the mouth of a 4 year old 11 years ago and Nama and Papa love it.
Ribbon Road Farms has sent lambs out for over 10 years to various 4-H and FFA students for small county shows in Missouri. We really have enjoyed the small town fairs and watching these kids and lambs grow together and have a lot of success in the show ring.
In the summer of 2020 we made the move back home to where our kids and grandkids are. Although our own kids showed lambs many years ago we have not been involved in the Oklahoma shows for a long time. That is changing, our grands have just started and are loving it. Unfortunately, we didn't plan on moving for another few years so we had only 3 late lambs left from our 2020 lamb crop because in Missouri lambing is done in November-December. The lambs were already out with kids for Missouri's summer shows. We were lucky to find some very nice lambs from Pirtle farms in Oklahoma and Ott Club Lambs. Take a few minutes to look around. Keep checking because our 2021 lamb crop has arrived and we will be adding new photo's periodically. They are looking tremendous.
In 2020 we added some more outstanding black face ewes and a blue ram lamb (Blue Ice) from Pirtle farms as well as a very nice dorset ram (Tennessee) from Kaleb and Heather Hesson farm in Tennessee. We also were able to add some really nice older dorset ewes from Chad Heisdorffer in Iowa. It is making this lambing season very interesting.
As always we also have Pyranees puppies. These pups are raised up around the livestock until you are ready to add them to your farm. We have both pure Pyranees and 3/4 Pyranees. Call or email to see if we have anything available when you are ready. We do not and will not ship puppies. We do go out to several shows around the country every year and are willing to bring them along.
** only one of these lambs (dorset) was bred by Ribbon Road Farms but I want to give a huge shout out to these three showwomen. This was their first year to show in a competitive field. We have been so darn proud of their work ethic and determination. Since our county finished they have plans for next year and what they will have and what will be done differently. I see real desire to be their best while being excited for their friends as they enjoy their accomplishments as well.
Congrats girls, we love you!! Thank you Pirtle farms for providing some great lambs for them to start with. They have had grand champion at local, several champions and reserve champions at their shows and class winners. It's been a fun season.
#1 Kacie showing her cross lamb from Pirtle farms #2 Kami showing the only dorset lamb we had remaining when coming to Oklahoma. He was sired by Avalanche and his dam was a California Chrome daughter. It was her first lambing so he had a slow start. #3 Kursten showing her cross lamb from Pirtle farms
